Artist Greg Christian

“I first became aware of photography as a craft and a process, in Junior High School while a student volunteer on the school newspaper and yearbook. Over the years my photographic interests evolved from still life images, through landscapes and into portraits and lifestyle images. Along the way I utilized 35mm, medium format, and 4×5 large format cameras and films with conventional darkroom processing and printing routinely until the technology shift became so overwhelmingly digital, with comparable image quality, that it became necessary to migrate to digital technology for image capture and online presentation.
The bulk of my serious photographic experience occurred while residing in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. Opportunities to study with renowned photo artists abound in that area and I had the chance to do workshops with Ruth Bernhard, Lucien Clergue, Morley Baer, Edna Bullock, John Sexton, Robert Farber, and many other photographers.
Now in Columbus, Ohio, my personal work is composed principally of figure studies exploring the vibrance and variety of the female form in nature and in the studio. These are most often anonymous studies of light, shadow, line, and shape as they transform the figure into organic art.
